Holger Theisel hat den "Best Associate Editor Award 2017" der Zeitschrift IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG) erhalten. Diese ist eines der Top-Journals auf den Gebieten Visualisierung und Computergraphik (impact factor 2,84). H. Theisel ist dort Associate Editor seit 2015. In der offiziellen Begründung heißt es: "...for handling a large number of submissions efficiently with the quickest turnaround and providing consistently high-quality, thoughtful recommendation summaries to the authors."
